Hand Molder

1.0 Purpose

1.1 The purpose of this job description is to define the requirements for the
position of Molder.

2.0 Position Prerequisites

2.1 Sufficient mechanical dexterity and mathematical skills to mold precision
parts that are dimensionally stable and controlled to close tolerances. The
molds, tooling and parts are to be handled properly in order to maintain
both the highest quality product and the mold integrity.

3.0 Nature & Scope

3.1 Molds are cleaned of flashing and prepared for casting of thermoset
resins. Mold surfaces are conditioned with release agents. The mold is
reassembled and prepared for casting. The mix ingredients are mixed and
either injected or poured into the mold. The material is cured in a set time
period, parts demolded and the process repeated.

3.2 This position requires knowledge and familiarity with machinery and hand
tools utilizing safe work practices.

3.3 An on the job training session is provided for each new Molder employee.
The Lead Molder shall conduct the OJT. Assessment of the trainee for
retention in the position will be made during the OJT period. Each molder
will be reviewed annually.

4.0 Responsibility

4.1 The responsibilities of a Molder are as follows:

• Maintain molds and mold surfaces

• Treat mold surfaces with release agents, as required

• Carefully remove parts to ensure minimum breakage and to retain
dimensional stability

• Annotate all molded product with specified markings

• Use non-metallic tools for removing parts and for mold cleaning

• Do not use any steel tools inside the mold surface

• Perform work in a safe an efficient manner

• Record information on production data sheets

• Review daily the production requirement form for production schedule
changes

• Review the Operation Log daily

• Place removed parts under flattening plates

• Handle all finished products with care

• Must be able to work around our chemicals with out and adverse /
allergic reaction

5.0 Accountabilities

5.3 Place emphasis on quality over quantity
5.4 Produce quality parts with minimal loss
5.5 Notify your supervisor of any abnormal conditions or errors so that failures
can be traced to causes

6.0 Records

6.1 The Plant Manager shall maintain the personnel file of each employee. Each
employee shall have access to his or her file upon request.

7.0 PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative
of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential
functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with
hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or
hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must
frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth
perception.

8.0 WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here
are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the
essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the
employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is
occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places;
fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather
conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work
environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud.
